How to Safely Pop a Pimple

Let’s talk about when it’s okay to pop a pimple. Now, no one is going to walk out of the house with a whitehead that is about to burst. These are the kinds of pimples that are safe to pop, with minimal risk of scarring and pigmentation.

Picking in the morning is not going to work, since makeup will not sit on a freshly popped pimple. You really have to pop at night.

-Take a hot shower, so your pimples are clean, moist and warm.

-Purchase sterile, single use lancets in the drug store (ask the pharmacist). These should only be used once, and then thrown away to avoid spreading bacteria!

-Stretch the skin. Poke the whitehead with the lancet.

-Begin gently pushing in an in-and-up motion, going around the pimple.

-You’ll find the white blood cells and puss will expel first. Continue gently pushing until you get the seed out or it begins bleeding. STOP!

-Clean the pimple with toner, or this is a great time to do a Peel Pad.

-Once the pimple has stopped bleeding finish with a dab of Overnight Treatment, which contains sulfur and benzoyl peroxide to kill any remaining bacteria.

In the morning, the pimple should be healed enough to cover with makeup, and will be fully healed in 2-3 days.
