Before I became a licensed esthetician, I was a traveling dermatology sales rep, and I always packed skin care products to protect my skin from flying, changes in climate, and the poor air quality in hotel rooms. For those of you who will be traveling this summer, a simple home care system followed by monthly professional treatments can do a great job of keeping your skin from looking dry, broken out, blotchy, and prematurely aged.
I don’t know about you but I always breakout when I travel. I’m not sure if it’s the soft water, too much salt from eating out, or sleeping on pillowcases that have been laundered with heavily fragranced detergent and fabric softener, or a combination of the three. For this reason, I am diligent about using my active acne products while traveling: my exfoliating serum every morning and my benzoyl peroxide nightly.
A tip for long overseas flights or evening flights are cleansing wipes. They are super-quick and easy, and really clean the skin. Follow it with a generous amount of Daily Moisturizer for its quick absorption abilities and hydration properties and you’re ready to sleep the entire flight, waking up with hydrated and happy skin.
Once you wake up in your destination, use a facial cleansing wipe to refresh and finish with EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 to protect your skin from not only UV radiation but also pollution and other environmental debris.
When you finally get back home, the best advice I can give you is to use a creamy scrub like Daily Scrub to take the remains of the trip off of your face–your skin will love you for it!
In the treatment room, an Acne Treatment with a chemical peel focuses on three key components: increasing blood flow to improve sluggish circulation, mechanical exfoliation, and saturating the skin tissue with oxygen while killing bacteria. This highly effective treatment has regenerating properties, stimulates cellular activity and will leave your skin hydrated, smooth, clear, and ready to take on your next vacation or business trip.
