The Best Protein Bars, Powders, and Drinks for Acne

Avoid sports drinks/bars containing iodized salt, whey (which is dervied from cow’s milk), kelp, spirulina, sugar, and peanuts.

Protein Powders and Bars:

For those of you who work out religiously and are looking for high-quality protein sources, bars and smoothies are quick and easy. Be careful that yours don’t contain spirulina, kelp, peanuts, whey protein, soy protein, or added sugar. Consider switching to Egg White or Hemp protein instead–these are higher-quality proteins and do not aggravate acne.

POREspective recommends: Hemp and Egg White Protein powders. The following LaraBars without peanuts are safe for acne: apple, banana, blueberry, cashew cookie, cherry, chocolate coconut, coconut cream, gingersnap, key lime, lemon, pecan, carrot cake, tropical fruit, and all jocolat bars. Coconut Chia bars are also good (and good for you!) and Dark Chocolate Cherry KIND Bars are a delicious treat.

Hydrating Drinks:

Whatever you do, don’t drink Gatorade! It is the worst combination of high-fructose corn syrup and iodized salt that will certainly break you out post-workout. Pickle juice and chocolate milk are often used to increase sports performance but the iodized salt, cow’s milk, and sugar will also flare up your acne.

POREspective recommendsNUUN hydration tablets.
